American Fiber - Camel Bulky
American Fiber - Camel Bulky
"Knit sheep not plastic". This is a sticker designs from Mitchell Wool and is one of their core principals. Sherry and Luke started Mitchell Wool because Sherry wanted to know the name of the sheep that created the wool she was knitting with. And in her words "it got out of hand quickly."
Sherry read "Vanishing Fleece" by Clara Parks, which sparked her mission to bring back American Fiber production. After starting Mitchell Wool and responsibly farming their Michigan farm, Sherry and Luke were approached by local farmers to purchase their wool. Wholesale collectives don't pay nearly enough to cover the cost of shearing let alone the cost of ethically raising the sheep. Thus "American Fiber" by Mitchell Wool was born!
This Camel Bulky is a blend of 60% American camel and 40% American Rambouillet. Each skein is 150 yards of 2 ply woolen spun bulky yarn. Camel Bulky is hand dyed with sustainably sourced plants, insects, & food waste. We recommend alternating skeins due to the nature of a hand dyed yarn. This is a limited edition yarn!
